About us

surfsKaiter was born from a simple desire: a mother wanting to share an activity and connect with her son.

Kai is a non-speaking autistic child whose journey inspired everything we do. Like many families, we were searching for meaningful ways to connect, move together, and create moments of joy. What began as time spent on a board soon revealed something much deeper. We witnessed increased confidence, focus, self-expression, and connection.

Those experiences inspired the creation of surfsKaiter.

Our mission is to create opportunities for connection, confidence, and inclusion by providing a welcoming environment where participants can explore movement at their own pace. Through adaptive surfskating, we bring families together, build confidence, and foster a sense of belonging through shared experiences.

We believe that every individual deserves opportunities to move, play, learn, and belong. We recognize that success looks different for every participant. For some, it may be standing on a board for the first time. For others, it may be learning a new skill, gaining independence, or simply sharing a meaningful experience with family and friends.

The heart of surfsKaiter is connection—connection through movement, connection with family, and connection with a community that celebrates every achievement, no matter how big or small.

To help keep our adaptive surfskate program accessible, we offer merchandise and accept community support. Every purchase and contribution helps us acquire equipment, safety gear, and resources needed to expand opportunities for participants and their families.

What started with Kai continues to grow through every rider, family, volunteer, and supporter who joins us on this journey.

Together, we’re building confidence, connection, and community—one ride at a time.
