Building Confidence Through Movement
We provide a supportive and inclusive environment where participants and their families can experience the benefits of surfskating, a form of skateboarding that emphasizes flowing, surf-inspired movement.
Our program focuses on creating positive experiences through movement, balance, coordination, and play. Participants are encouraged to progress at their own pace in a way that respects individual needs, comfort level, abilities and goals.
Who Can Participate?
surfsKaiter welcomes neurodivergent individuals and their families, regardless of age or experience level. No previous surfskate, skateboard, or sports experience is required.
Whether a participant is stepping onto a board for the first time or already enjoys riding, our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels supported, respected, and included.
Spaces in the surfsKaiter program are intentionally limited to provide a personalized and supportive learning experience for every participant. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited monthly enrollment, we encourage families to apply early. When all available spaces have been filled, applicants will be added to our waiting list and notified as openings become available.
What to Expect
Participants may have opportunities to:
- Explore surfskate fundamentals in a safe environment
- Develop balance, coordination, and body awareness
- Build confidence through achievable goals
- Practice social interaction and community engagement
- Experience movement as a tool for self-expression and regulation
- Have fun while learning new skills.
Every participant’s journey is unique, and progress is celebrated at every stage.
Family-Centered Approach
We believe families play an important role in every participant’s experience. Unlike traditional drop-off activities, parents, caregivers, and family members are encouraged to remain actively involved, sharing the experience alongside their children and celebrating each milestone together.
Equipment and Safety
Safety is our highest priority. Participants are provided guidance on proper equipment use and protective gear. Program activities are adapted whenever necessary to help ensure a positive and comfortable experience.
Cost
The surfsKaiter Adaptive Surfskate Pilot Program is offered free of charge whenever possible through the support of our community, merchandise sales, donations, and volunteers.
Every purchase and contribution directly helps us expand access to adaptive surfskating and provide opportunities for more participants and families.
Due to limited monthly enrollment, families seeking immediate participation may also register for hourly paid private adaptive surfskate sessions based on current website availability.
